Backups
that restore.
Local copy, off-site copy and restore testing for businesses in Marbella and the Costa del Sol.

Almost every business has something it calls a backup. What almost none has is proof that it can be recovered: nobody has ever restored a single file, nobody checks whether last night's backup completed, and the disk is plugged into the very server it is meant to protect. Until it has been restored, you do not know whether you have a backup.

What is included

What we back up, where, and how it is verified

Before anything is purchased, two questions are answered: how much data you can afford to lose, and how long the business can afford to stand still. Everything else follows from those answers.

  • Review of the existing arrangement

What is backed up, how often, where it ends up and who checks it. Something is almost always missing: the business management software, the new file server, the mailboxes or the laptops.
  • The 3-2-1 rule

Three copies of the data, on two different types of media, with one of them outside the office. It is the reasonable minimum to ensure that a single failure cannot take everything with it.
  • A copy beyond the reach of ransomware

At least one immutable or disconnected copy, which cannot be deleted or encrypted from the office network even if someone obtains an administrator password.
  • Restore testing

At regular intervals something is genuinely recovered — a file, a mailbox or an entire server — and the time it took is recorded. That way you know how long it would take to be working again.
  • Microsoft 365 backup

Email, OneDrive and SharePoint backed up outside Microsoft. Their service is protected; your data, if you delete it yourself or someone using your account does, is not.
  • Servers, workstations and NAS

Veeam, Synology Active Backup for Business or Proxmox Backup Server, depending on what is already in place and the budget. If you already have a solution that works, it is put to use.
  • Alerts when a backup fails

Every backup leaves a result, and someone reviews it. If one fails, it is known the same day and corrected, rather than discovered on the day a restore is needed.

Who it is for

Signs that your backups will not save you

Nobody remembers the last time anything was restored

In that case nobody knows whether the backup works, or how long it would take to recover the work.

The only copy is in the office

A burglary, a fire or an electrical fault takes the data and the backup at the same time.

The backup NAS has the same password as the server

Whoever gets into one gets into the other, and the first thing an attack deletes is the backups.

You assume Microsoft keeps your email

It keeps the service running, not a copy of your data. Whatever is deleted and passes the retention period does not come back.

Our approach

From the backup you think you have to one that works

01

Assessment

We review what is backed up, where, and whether it can be restored. We show you what we found before proposing anything.

02

Design and implementation

We choose the solution according to your data and your budget, configure it, and carry out the first full restore in front of you.

03

Monitoring and testing

Regular review of the results and documented restore tests, so that the backup remains fit for purpose over time.

Frequently asked questions

Business backup in Marbella

How often should a backup be taken?

It depends on how much work you can afford to lose. If losing a full day is acceptable, a daily backup is enough; if not, whatever changes most, such as the ERP or the shared folders, is backed up several times a day. We agree this with you before configuring anything.

Does Microsoft 365 already back up my email?

Not in the sense of a backup. Microsoft is responsible for keeping the service running; the data is your responsibility. The recycle bin and retention have time limits, and a mass deletion or a badly handled staff departure can take email and files with them. That is why it is backed up separately.

Do you work with Veeam?

Yes. We also work with Synology Active Backup for Business and Proxmox Backup Server. If you already have a solution that works, we review it and maintain it; there is no need to replace it in order to work with us.

What happens if ransomware encrypts the backup as well?

Then there is no backup. That is precisely what many attacks look for before encrypting the data. This is why one of the copies must be immutable or disconnected, so that nobody on the office network can delete or alter it.

Is a NAS in the office enough?

It is a good start, but it is not enough. In a fire, a burglary or a flood, the NAS is lost along with everything else. A second copy is needed somewhere else: another NAS at a different location, or the cloud.

Shall we check whether your backups restore?

Tell us what is installed, or what you need. We will tell you what we would do — and what does not need doing.
